Has anyone been to Sri Lanka and got any handy hints for me?

I'm going on a package holiday (both touring and beach stays) and am looking for some tips from someone who's been. In particular I'd like to know stuff like, what electrical sockets have they got?, can you buy English language books there? (as we only have limited luggage amount), etc etc and anything anyone thinks might be worth knowing? Thanks
