Preparing acids.....;(?

I have been given 2moldm-3 HCl and I have to create 5 solutions of diluted acid of varying concentration by mixing volumes of acid with distilled water. What apparatus do I need? What should the total volume of solution (acid + water) be if I am going to react it with a small piece of Mg ribbon?
